Delicias School II........ HOME.....................Our Reopened Delicias School has moved from City Hall to our own compound (2 Km. south).....................   . First term, January - March 2009 Second Term, March-December Prior to offer of 4X4 (we had 6 students registered, Second Term, March-December 2009 After the offer of a 4X4 (13 registered, 10 attendong)   but only 3 were attendong daily)

The mothers bring their children to the gathering point on high ground. One of our volunteers walks in and leades them out through the souage swamp to the nearest non 4X4 access. San Borqa is a shanty town built between the swamp and the ocean. It is about 5 miles from our Delicias school. Only the poorest live there. These 8 children are the first of many. Once across the swamp we bundle them into a taxi for an expensive ride through some kilometers of off-road scrub to the main highway, and then to our school and their lessons. Getting home is just as difficult. Expecting to have a 4X4 we got these children, who are now happily learning and may get a better life as a result. Your good intentions made us do a good thing. We´re Still hopeful.
